Since Atronic and its French distribution partner, Ludi, first introduced the Stargate SG-1 linked gaming concept at the Hotel Casino Barrière de Lille in northern France this spring, the game has swept through the country’s casinos at warp speed. Stargate SG-1 is the video slot version of the popular movie and TV show, with five distinct, out-of-this-world bonuses that summon recognizable features from the Stargate SG-1 series, like the Stargate Chevrons and Dial-Home Device. Players must bet max lines and side bet +20 to trigger a bonus. Once triggered, one of the five bonuses is randomly selected. The excitement builds as the Stargate appears seemingly ready to pick up players for a trip across the galaxy.
Stargate SG-1 can be installed on two, three, four, six or more e2TM Slant Top machines. Each of the game’s four main characters -- Jack O’Neill, Daniel Jackson, Samantha Carter, and Teal’C -- have their own game with unique bonuses, and each appears together under eye-catching signage that replicates the actual Stargate from the film and series.
Following its success at Casino Barrière, installations followed at no fewer than eight French casinos: Gujan-Mestras (Gironde, independant), Les Sables d’Olonne-Les Pins (Vendée, JOA groupe), Amnéville (Moselle, groupe Tranchant), Cannes-Croisette (Alpes-Maritimes, groupe Barrière), St Jean de Monts (Vendée, groupe Emeraude), Chatelaillon (Charente-Maritime, groupe Emeraude) and St Julien En Genevois (Haute-Savoie, independant).
Pierre Journe, Slot Director at Casino Barrière de Lille, said game performance and player satisfaction are still high nine months following the game’s debut: “The Stargate product gives us complete satisfaction, because customers love it (2 cent games are the most successful) and in terms of performance, these machines are the highest performers on the 2 cent machine floor. The visual effect with six machines and double-facing signage, has really become the centre of attention at our casino.”
For casinos not considering an investment in a linked and licensed gaming product, Stargate has immediately proven its value. “As soon as we were presented with this concept, we were immediately convinced, although we hadn’t initially budgeted for it. This product fit our marketing strategy perfectly, because it’s unique and innovative. As soon as the product went live, we were entirely satisfied,” added Emilie Soulard, communication manager for the Casino Gujan-Mestras.
Recently, the Tranchant Group has decided to order more banks of the Stargate concept, according to Ludi-SFM. Following installation in casinos such as Les Pins and Sables d'Olonne, the JOA Groupe is also expected to roll out the concept to its other casinos. (E-01.11.11)
