The company Lottery & Wagering Solutions, Inc (LWSL) of Fort Lauderdale, Florida has reported that their new subsidiary has signed a rental agreement for a location in the centre of Paramaribo, capital city of Suriname. The subsidiary, The Golden Tulip Leaisure A.V.V. (GTL), is registered in Aruba and has signed a contract for 5 years with N.V. Trade Centre Suriname (TCS) which authorises GTL to run the restaurany, casino and offices on the several floors of The Golden Tulip Casino, Hotel and Conference Centre.
Suriname has been known as Surinam and Dutch Guiana when it was a colony of the Netherlands. Paramariba, the capital, is situated on the Suriname River about ten miles inland from the Atlantic Ocean.
The agreement also gives GTL exclusive use of the casino and food and beverage licences in representation of TCS, plus 173 slot machines, 7 table games and all the casino equipment at the location. For this GTL will pay $40,000 monthly and have the option to extend the contract for an additional five years. However, the holding company LWSL indicated that this was not part of the agreement between GTL and TCS and that it had given no guarantees for the performance and obligations of its subsidiary.
LWSL stated that they had been looking for an apropriate location for a casino operation since July 2003 when courts in Suriname had ordered the eviction of the Suriname Leisure Company A.V.V. (SLC) from the hotel property in Paramaribo where the company ran the casino with its subsidiaries.
