Fixed odds betting outlets in Jamaica to reach 1,000

SVL JOINS FORCES WITH INTRALOT

Supreme Ventures Ltd, a locally owned Jamaican company founded in 1995, commenced its lottery operations on the island in June 2001. In December 2003 SVL acquired the Jamaica Lottery Company and by the end of 2004 had sales exceeding $12 billion. In February 2006 the company listed on the Jamaica Stock Exchange.

Having bought the licences of Prime Sports Jamaica Limited, SVL operates video gaming lounges across the island and is now to launch fixed-odds betting in Jamaica. The Greek company Intralot yesterday announced it had entered a 10-year agreement to partner SVL in opening a network of 500 outlets and plans to expand to 1,000 venues. Intralot will buy a 10% stake in SVL also.

Intralot Jamaica will undertake the complete operation of Fixed Odds Betting in the local market, including the provision of the central system, the microLOT terminals, risk management and other supportive services, subject to regulatory approval of the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Commission (BGLC). Intralot’s revenues from the management fee are expected to reach US$140 million over the contract term.

Commenting on the agreement, Mr. Constantinos Antonopoulos, CEO of Intralot, stated: “Our new contract and acquisition of SVL shares paves the way to the Caribbean region. With this new project we enter a new exciting territory and we are optimistic that in a short period of time we will manage to further expand our presence in the area. We are really pleased to become a partner in SVL, a very successful and promising company of the gaming sector today. The Jamaican market is full of potential and Intralot will be an indispensable part of the evolvement of the market”. (E-10.14.08)
