Chile’s eighth new casino licence operational

Gran Casino de Talca opens

Located on the Pan-American Highway 250 km south of Chile’s capital Santiago, the city of Talca is the capital of both Talca Province and Maule Region. It is an important economic centre, with agricultural and manufacturing activities including the production of wine, and is the site of Chile’s eighth new casino complex. Gran Casino de Talca offers entertainment for local residents and the growing number of tourists in the area.

Total investment in the project is US$8.4 million and will create at least 302 permanent positions. The casino, which passed its final checks by the Chilean gaming authority (SCJ) and was inaugurated on 26 December, has 400 slot machines, 15 table games and a 60-seat bingo. The licence is valid for 15 years and the SCJ confirmed that all the slot machines are new with instructions in Spanish and a payback of not less than 85%. The new casinos in Chile must pay 20% of gross gaming revenue for development projects in the local communities.

We were pleased to learn that Marco Chavez has been appointed as Gaming Director at Gran Casino de Talca and that his team includes Evelyn Barton as Slots Manager, Miguel Padro as Tables Manager and Cesar Valladares as Cage Manager. The completed casino complex will include a 48-room 4-star hotel, restaurant, bar, spa and gymnasium as well as conference and show centres, pool and cultural gallery. (E-01.13.09)
