The UK gaming centre operator Talarius is now owned by European Gaming. Tatts Group, previously Tattersall’s, has announced that it has acquired the remaining 50% stake of European Gaming from Macquarie Group for an undisclosed amount. Talarius operates 191 adult gaming centres in the UK with around 8,000 machines.
In November 2006 Talarius agreed to a takeover by European Gaming Ltd, a joint venture between Australian companies Tattersall’s and Macquarie Bank. It was the first European purchase for Tattersall’s. Tatts intends to refurbish the Talarius facilities over the next three years at a cost in the region of A$56 million. The company is known to be looking for further opportunities in the UK.
Another Australian gambling operator, Tabcorp Holdings, has confirmed it is exiting its business in China. The company has sold China Keno to China Lot Synergie, its joint venture partner, for A$15 million. For one year Tabcorp will continue to provide limited technical assistance to China Keno’s client Beijing Lottery Online Technology Co Ltd. The decision to sell its stake was taken in order to improve performance and growth of its Australian gaming businesses, according to the company. (E-12.20.07)
