A casino for the centre of Tirana, Albania, near the Tirana International Hotel, will create an estimated 300 jobs. The project is a joint venture for Casinos Austria International and the Greek company Club Hotel Loutraki SA. The investment is for an initial €19.5 million, expected to rise to €25 million, and will be a direct investment from Club Hotel Loutraki. The casino will have an area of around 1,280 sq mts.

Another Greek company interested in a casino in Tirana is Hyatt Regency Hotel & Tourism Hellas SA. Its construction project is reported to be for the Rinia region of Tirana, near the Taiwan Bar.

Both companies have now entered the second stage of the international tender for a licence to operate a casino in Tirana. The decision about which company will be granted the licence will be made by the Offers Assessment Commission of the Albanian Ministry of Finance. (E-04.08.05)
