Swedish online betting company Unibet is to organize two poker tournaments a month at the Casino Gran Madrid. The tournaments will commence next month with the aim of introducing Texas Hold’em to the public. On the first Saturday of the month the poker tournament will be for the university fraternity and on the third Thursday of the month any poker enthusiast will be able to participate for a fee of less than €120. The tournaments are expected to continue throughout 2009.
Sponsored by Unibet, players will not only win prizes at the tournaments. There will be the possibility of free entry to the Unibet European Open Tour and the 2009 World Series in Las Vegas. The next Unibet Open tournament will take place next month on 5-7 December at Poland’s largest casino, the Hyatt Regency Warsaw. Unibet was voted European Sports-Betting Operator this year for the second time in three years.
Grupo Gran Madrid believes in offering entertainment, not just gambling, at its venues. Live performances, fine dining, cultural activities and bridge tournaments are available to the public at the company’s casinos, and the casino in Torrelodones in Madrid is the only casino in Spain where civil marriages can take place. Now, in partnership with Unibet, the Madrid casino will be offering two monthly poker tournaments to its clientele. (E-11.25.08)
