VSlots was established in 1994 and, according to the VGroup, is the jewel in their crown. Part of South Africa’s Hosken Consolidated Investments Ltd, VSlots is the only gaming company licensed in all of the country’s operational provinces. The licences allow VSlots to operate over 6,000 Limited Pay-Out Machines (LPMs), with the potential to increase the number to over 7,000. Route operators are allowed to offer maximum jackpots of R500 per spin for a maximum wager of R5.
LPMs are found in places such as pubs, clubs, hotels, inns, bookmakers and other entertainment venues. VSlots operates in partnership with site owners on a profit sharing basis. In January Vukani Gaming Corporation, which trades as VSlots, joined 64 site owners in the Eastern Cape and applied to the Eastern Cape Gambling and Betting Board (ECGBB) for the transfer of their licences from bankrupt route operator Luck@It to its name.
VSlots has now gone to Grahamstown High Court to request that the ECGBB be forced to undertake the transfer as it had made no move to resolve the situation. In the meantime the site owners have been unable to derive any income from their LPMs. High Court Judge Mandela Makaula has reserved judgement. (E-03.30.10)
