In mid-August Chile’s regulators Superintendencia de Casinos de Juego (SCJ) authorized the installation of WAP (Wide Area Progressive) for slot machines in casinos licensed under the 2005 Casino Law. In this way, the new casino industry is able to interconnect slot machines and progressive jackpots from different properties into a central paying system.
As part of the regulations, all casinos using WAP have to inform the general public about the number of slots interconnected in the system and the progressive prize to date. The machines interconnected in the system would still have to return to players payments of no less than 85%.
As part of the controls, the system server must be located in one of the casinos interconnected in the WAP system; tables in the system would have to be equipped with a manual or electronic counter to be used in the WAP betting plus an electronic display showing the progressive prize to date, as well as data processing system with the bets, prizes, etc. The SCJ also approved interconnected progressives for several poker tables in one casino.
