Next month’s G2E in Las Vegas will have a British Pavilion and the International Casino Exhibition (ICE) will have a booth to promote next year’s London show. Visitors to the booth will be offered a free-to-enter draw where the prize will be two luxury tickets for Wimbledon 2006. John Fenna, Head of Marketing for ICE explained, “ICE and the Wimbledon Championships share some significant characteristics: both are high profile annual events, both are held in London and both have an essentially international flavour.” The two tickets are for the Centre Court and will include complimentary Champagne bar, four-course à la carte luncheon and full afternoon tea with strawberries and cream.
ATE, organizer of ICE, has now completed a move to join its new owners at the Earls Court Exhibition Centre in Warwick Road. Telephone and fax numbers will remain the same for a 3-month period, as will e-mail addresses. ATE will retain its office in Bolton where the company has its publications division. Some changes have occurred from ATE’s integration with Clarion Events, including the company’s Head of Conferences, Dawn Millroy, deciding to take redundancy. Dawn has worked in the industry for 26 years and contributed to ATE achieving the reputation it enjoys as a leading force in the international industry.
ATEI and ICE will be offering industry professionals visiting the January exhibitions in London assistance with their travel arrangements. ATE are finalising the provision of an automated online facility to provide visitors with personalised invitations and visa application forms. When visitors register for free entry badges, the online visa helper will automatically detect if they require a UK visa and issue an invitation to the show in their name. These can then be used as support at the relevant British Consulate, streamlining the process and enabling international buyers complete travel and accommodation plans more quickly and easily.
In 2005 56.7% of buyers at ICE and 32.4% at ATEI came from outside the UK. 70 countries have been represented at the exhibitions over the last few years that require UK visas, and of total overseas attendees some 20% would require a travel visa. ICE 2006 will take place at the Earls Court Exhibition Centre on 24-26 January. (E.08.11.05)
