With stands open for sale to the general gaming sector for just under a month now, bookings for next May's ELA 2012 in Mexico are at an all-time record. Even after one month, big expo areas are getting seriously limited. 75% of stand area has been taken and another 10% booked, leaving just 15% of exhibition space available with still over 7 months to go.
Another new record has been set by Spanish firm Zitro, with a stand of 600 m2, the largest in the exhibition. They are followed by Ortiz Gaming-EIBE Games with over 500 m2 and Recreativos Franco with almost 300 m2. The other places booked in the exhibitors list are taken by Spanish, Brazilian, Mexican and European companies.
"Spanish and Brazilian multinationals are wagering very heavily on the Mexican market, even though the country is going through difficult times. Their presence thus supports the policy of Felipe Calderon’s government to root out underground gaming.

Meanwhile, many US companies have chosen to take what we may call a strategic withdrawal. We understand that this is the time to be in Mexico, to let organized crime know that legal gaming is not only possible, but that government bodies and the private industry are committed to its defense," maintains Pablo G. Jara, general director of ELA, speaking to specialized gaming media.
Expoazar, the event organizers say that “In view of the high demand for stands, ELA has reserved another 6000 m2 in expo space in the event that there is need to accommodate more gaming companies. ELA 2012 is, without a doubt, the Latin America Gaming Fair par excellence.” All information on the Mexico gaming show is available on the organizer’s website. (E-10.20.11)
