Additional tables bring extra US$15.5 million

PGCB releases November table game revenue

The play of table games during November at Pennsylvania casinos generated tax revenue of more than $8.7 million, according to figures posted today on the Gaming Control Board's web site. With an average of 946 tables in operation on a daily basis during November, gross revenue from play of all table games was $54,030,362, which was more than $15.5 million higher than November 2010 when revenue totalled $38,520,402 with an average 745 tables operating on a daily basis.

Of the ten casinos operating in Pennsylvania, only Mount Airy Casino Resort and Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs have not increased the number of gaming tables since November 2010. Mohegan Sun has stayed the same with 84 tables and Mount Airy has reduced its 78 tables to 72. Parx Casino has added an additional 102 tables and now operates 183, increasing revenue from US$6,681,119 in November 2010 to US$10,647,582 last month. Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem has an additional 40 tables, bringing its total to 129, and more than doubled revenue to US$8,621,584. Mohegan Sun revenue was down slightly on November 2010, the only Pennsylvanian casino to produce less revenue in November 2011 compared to one year ago.

Pennsylvania taxes gross table game revenue at 16% (14% to the Commonwealth's General Fund and 2% to local share fund), which resulted in $8,730,120 of tax revenue last month. The ten casinos collectively have generated US$5.6 billion in tax and licence fee revenue since the first casino opened in November 2006. A portion of that money is enabling property tax reduction for all Pennsylvania homeowners, providing needed funding to the Commonwealth's horse racing industry, funding grants for fire companies and water/sewer projects, and establishing a new stream of tax revenue to local governments for community projects.
