As the clocks in New York strike one this afternoon, Genting Group’s Resorts World Casino New York City opens the doors of its US$830 million video lottery facility to the public. Long queues are expected to form even before the 11:00 am ribbon-cutting ceremony. Located at the Aqueduct Racetrack in Queens, electronic gaming machines, signature dining options and live entertainment will make the venue the most extensive entertainment and gaming venue in the region. A second phase, including a skybridge connecting to the subway, will open mid-December.
Resorts World at the Aqueduct will be open from 8:00 am to 4:00 am every day and, when completed, besides the casino will offer a premier events space with 5,000 capacity ‘Central ‘Park’ and ‘Festival Commons’, a wide-open space to accommodate up to 10,000 people. There are also many lounges available for smaller celebrations and events. dining; the Aqueduct Buffet has a feast of food choices; and the Midtown Express provides snacks. There is also the Times Square Food Court with six venues.
By the end of this year the completed facility will offer visitors 4,525 video slots and 4,775 electronic table games. The venue opens today with 2,280 video lottery terminals (VLTs) and 205 electronic table games - the state of New York does not permit live casino games. Annual tax revenue to the state from the New York racino is expected to be around US$300 million, which will help fund education in the state.
